Straight, properly aligned teeth are not only attractive, but they are also healthier and more comfortable. Crooked teeth and an improper bite can lead to long-term dental issues that can become painful and expensive to fix. This is why general and cosmetic dentist Dr. Natalie Scarmato is proud to offer the Invisalign system — removable, clear teeth aligners for her patients in New York, NY. Custom made for your teeth and your specific needs, Invisalign is more attractive and comfortable than traditional metal orthodontics since they can be removed to make eating and brushing your teeth much easier. If you are interested in getting straighter teeth with Invisalign technology, schedule a consultation at her office in Greenwich Village to learn more from Dr. Scarmato.

"I love Dr. Scarmato and her team! She always treats me with a lot of care and listens to my concerns. I met with several doctors about Invisalign and was really blown away by how patient and personal Dr. Scarmato was with me; she really helped me tailor my plan to exactly what I want. Her dental assistants are really kind and so is Sara, who books all of the appointments. Plus, her office is right on Washington Square Park, and who doesn't love that?! I am so glad I found a dentist who I trust and enjoy visiting :)"- K.B. / Google / Jun 14, 2019

There are many factors that can determine your teeth alignment: genetics, thumbsucking as a child, the loss of a tooth or teeth, and traumatic accidents to the face. The misalignment of your teeth can lead to other oral health problems, including dental malocclusion (a bad bite), abnormal enamel wear, trouble speaking and chewing, as well as toothaches and jaw pain. If Dr. Scarmato notices any of these problems during your dental exam, she may recommend an orthodontic treatment like Invisalign.
Invisalign is great for both adults and teens who want straighter teeth without the pain, hassle, and appearance of braces. While they do need to be worn most of the time, Invisalign can be taken out for eating and brushing your teeth, as well as for special events and playing sports. Far more discreet than metal braces that cut and poke the inside of the mouth, most people will usually not be able to tell that you are wearing your Invisalign tray.
What To Expect
Your first set of Invisalign trays will be created using digital impressions at our Manhattan office. Once they are ready, you will return to get your first set along with care instructions from Dr. Scarmato. You will need to wear your aligners at least 20 – 22 hours each day for the system to be effective, ideally removing them only for eating and cleaning. Over time, you will move to the next set of aligners as they gently move your teeth into their proper position. You will need to schedule follow-up appointments every 4 – 6 weeks at our office in Greenwich Village to have the fit of your aligners checked and to have more digital impressions taken so new sets of aligners can be made. The length of time that you use Invisalign will vary based on the original position of your teeth and your cosmetic goals, but most patients wear aligners for about one year.
Once your teeth are in alignment, it's important to keep your teeth from moving back to their old position. Dr. Scarmato offers fixed retainers, which are a wire attached to the back of your teeth to help hold their new placement. Once your mouth has adjusted to the new alignment, the retainer can be removed. After this, Dr. Scarmato will continue to watch your teeth alignment and bite during your annual dental exams to ensure your teeth remain in the correct position.
Some of your Invisalign treatment cost may be covered by dental insurance. Our front office will confirm your benefits and calculate your personal costs. Natalie Scarmato, D.D.S. accepts many different payment methods for patients who don't have dental insurance. During your initial consultation, Dr. Scarmato can go over your estimated costs and ways to make your treatment more affordable, including flexible payment plans and medical financing.
